How AI is Disrupting Legal Studies: A New Era for Law Students

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping industries across the board, and legal education is no exception. For law students in the UK, managing the pressures of intensive reading, research, and exam preparation can be overwhelming. With AI, however, the way students approach their studies is being fundamentally transformed, making it possible to study more efficiently and effectively.

As a former law student at Durham University, I remember how overwhelming the volume of reading and case analysis could be. Balancing coursework and preparing for a legal career felt like a never-ending challenge. Today, AI is easing that burden in ways I wish I had experienced during my time in law school.

The Changing Face of Legal Education

Traditionally, studying law has required students to invest vast amounts of time into reviewing case law, statutes, and dense legal theories. AI-powered tools are now streamlining this process, allowing students to quickly sift through volumes of legal information and get straight to the core of what’s important. Tools like Juree are making it easier to summarise complex materials, identify relevant precedents, and analyse intricate legal texts in a fraction of the time.

Rather than spending hours dissecting judicial opinions, students can now rely on AI to break these down into concise, digestible summaries. This doesn’t just save time; it allows students to focus on applying legal concepts, rather than getting bogged down in endless reading. During my studies, I spent countless hours on repetitive tasks that AI now handles in minutes.

AI as a Study Companion

AI tools are increasingly being used to assist with legal research, exam preparation, and legal writing. Juree, for example, offers a platform that supports students with summarising case law, conducting research, and providing personalised feedback on essays and arguments. This helps students refine their reasoning and improve their understanding of key legal principles.

When I was in law school, getting feedback often felt like a waiting game, with little time left to make adjustments. Now, AI can offer real-time responses, giving students an edge in improving their work. Platforms like Juree also tailor their support to individual study habits, offering personalised guidance—something I would have found invaluable during my academic journey.

Bridging the Gap Between Studies and Career

Balancing academic performance with career preparation was one of my biggest challenges. AI now helps students bridge that gap. Juree, for instance, offers guidance on job applications, CV writing, and interview preparation. When I was applying for internships, having an AI tool to support both my academic and career efforts would have saved me countless hours of stress.

The Future of Legal Education

As AI continues to evolve, its impact on legal education will only grow. Law students who embrace AI-powered tools will be better equipped to manage their studies and career preparation. AI platforms like Juree are becoming essential companions, helping students develop practical skills and positioning them for success in the competitive legal landscape.
